Products & Solutions
Ultrafiltration combined with the activated sludge process — the most advanced technology available in the market.
Overview
Membrane Bioreactor — MBR — is the combination of ultrafiltration (UF) and the activated sludge process. Instead of relying on a secondary clarifier to separate biomass from treated water, an ultrafiltration membrane does the separation directly inside or immediately after the bioreactor.
Because separation no longer depends on how well the sludge settles, the process can be operated at much higher biomass concentrations, in a smaller tank, with an absolute barrier to suspended solids and bacteria in the permeate.
Ion Agua has helped various customers from Municipal to Industrial to Food and Beverage for treating and recycling the water for non-potable purposes. MBR is an excellent option for retrofit and refurbishment projects to improve and upgrade the current WWTP installations.
